PRO-7 gets donations

- Avila/BRP — Mae Clydyl L.

The Police Regional Office-7 received about P1.2 million worth of donations from a charity organization established to support the police and fill in the gaps in the budget given to them by the national government.

The items turned over to the police by the Philippine National Police Foundation Inc. were an unmarked Toyota Innova, 714 undershirts, 76 waistcoat vests, 29 unmanned aerial vehicles, 29 cellphones, and 36 bicycles.

Senator and former PNP chief Panfilo Lacson graced the turn-over of newly acquired items for the police in PRO-7.

He is also the chairman of the foundation, which has the main function of overseeing to the minor needs of the PNP to improve its efficacy in policing.

“Ito ay maliliit na bagay lamang para makatulong na rin sa ibang regional police offices na hindi na kinakaya ng kanilang Maintenance and Other Operational Expenses,” Lacson said.

Brigadier General Debold Sinas, the director of PRO-7 said their regional office was chosen as the beneficiary after they requested for additional help for their operations.

He said that the bicycles will be turned over to the Tourist Police Unit, as they need more resources to patrol tourist spots in Moalboal, Oslob, and other places where tourists are expected to flock for their summer vacation.

Lacson said that it may be small but it's one way to show support to the PNP and help the organization become more effective in fighting crime, especially in the administration's campaign against illegal drugs.
