A 29-year-old bakeshop attendant landed in the hospital after she was stabbed multiple times by her former co-worker while manning the store on F. Llamas Street, Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City yesterday dawn.

Liezel Luang, a native of Santander, Cebu and is temporarily residing in Barangay Sawang Calero, was stabbed by Ricky Laraga at around 3 :45 a.m.

Luang was rushed to the hospital and is now in stable condition.

Police Major Keith Andaya, chief of the Punta Princesa Police Station, said they are looking into personal grudge as the motive of the attack.

Laraga, a resident of Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, was reportedly fired by the management for theft. He is a native of Guihulngan, Negros Oriental.

Aside from stabbing the attendant, Laraga also carted away P300, said Andaya.

Andaya said Police Station 10 is conducting a hot pursuit operation against Laraga.

“There will be check points and intensive patrolling,” the station police chief said.

On the other hand, Cebu City Councilor David Tumulak said the recent killings and robbery incidents in the city involving ordinary people are an “alarming” situation.

Tumulak, deputy mayor for police matters, urged all barangay tanods and police to strengthen visibility to help deter crimes.

He also urged the public to be alert and vigilant especially during wee hours.

“This is alarming,” he said.

Last week, a 21-year-old graduating student was shot dead by robbers along Tres de Abril Street in Labangon, a neighboring barangay of Punta Princesa.
