CCCI holds assessors’ training via ACAS
The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has been advocating to give students the proper education and training through its Assessment, Certification, and Accreditation System (ACAS Unit), a service in partnership with AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation.
In preparation for the coming BQC Assessment this April, a pool of assessors from different companies were trained on the process and guidelines of the assessment, last March 27 at the Waterfront Cebu Hotel and Casino.
The training focused on the Tourism and Construction industry cluster, wherein 16 industry practitioners, who have extensive knowledge and experience in their corresponding fields, attended the training. Seven were from the tourism cluster: Marco Polo Plaza, JPark Island Reosrt Waterpark, KEG Travel and Tours, Waterfront Cebu Hotel and Casino, Maayo Hotel and La Tegola Cucina Italiana. 8 were from the construction cluster: JM Salera Construction, Phoenix Building Systems Corp., SKILLS, Inc., Sagrada Familia Plumbing Services, Daleon Construction and Primary Structures Corp.
The training was facilitated by Mr. Marlon Valencia, the Business Research and Development Manager of the Center for Industrial Technology Enterprise (CITE) with the ACAS Unit and AFOS Foundation overseeing the whole event.
The ACAS program of the CCCI promotes the Dual Education Training wherein both the time spent in the school and the job immersion of students are given importance. Senior High School graduates who underwent Dual Education and Training with at least 800 hours of immersion in the industry, and with TESDA certification and a bundle of competencies under a job profile identified by the industries shall be assessed in this program.
