Jones considers TNT underdog in the Finals
They are the top seeded team heading to the playoffs and they just dethroned the defending PBA Commissioner’s Cup champion.
Yet, Terrence Jones still sees the TnT Katropa as the underdog in the coming best-ofseven finals be it against the San Miguel Beermen or the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
“I don’t feel we’re the favorites. I feel we’re the underdogs,” said Jones who steered the Katropa to their first finals stint in two years after slamming the door on Barangay Ginebra, 10392, in Game 4 of their best-of-five semis series.
Jones had another triple of 24 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists, his fifth for the conference to set an all-time franchise record.
The former NBA player said he’s looking forward to his first finals stint in the PBA alongside a team which he considers as ‘a special group.’
“We’re playing as a team, as a unit, and everybody is happy for one another,” said Jones, 27.
“We worked very hard this year to create this chemistry and believe in one another. I think we’re going to continue on having that same belief in each other,” added the product of the University of Kentucky.
The Katropa have not won a league championship since beating Rain or Shine in double overtime of a memorable Game 7 to clinch the 2015 Commissioner’s Cup.
Jones hopes he’ll be able to help the franchise end the four-year title drought.
“We’re gonna come in excited and try to get something special done that hasn’t happen for our organization in a long time,” he said.
