Shorter but safer, fun-filled CDU Run
A much shorter, but safer and funfilled route awaits the participants of the 14th Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) Run on September 8 at the CDU grounds in Mandaue City.
In a press conference yesterday at the Run For Sight Foundation’s main office, CebuDoc Group of Hospitals President Dr. Potenciano “Yong” S. Larrazabal III said this year’s race course is the shortest since 2017.
Larrazabal, an established longdistance runner and holder of the rare Six Star Finisher Medal for completing the six Abbott World Marathon Majors (New York City, Berlin, Chicago, London, Tokyo, and Boston), explained that they made it shorter to avoid accidents and traffic congestion even on a Sunday.
“We are making it much shorter this time, but safer to the runners. Without road closures, it would be very unsafe and hard to the runners. But we will have it fun for everyone while benefiting the less fortunate patients and those who need help in various calamities,” said Larrazabal.
Open to all runners, this year’s edition of the annual charity race features the 3K, 5K and 10K distances.
The 5K and 10K, however, has different classifications - open, students, CDU alumni and CebuDoc group employees. The 3K, on the other hand, will have an open and students division only.
Although a shorter action, the event organizers assured the participants of a more fun-filled route as they continue their best water station contest for the different colleges under CDU.
Aside from that, there will also be a cheerdance contest for the students.
“The students are looking forward to this. They are having a healthy competition among them,” said CDU President Dr. Philip Larrazabal.
More to the fun and fitness, the event is for the benefit of the Run for Sight Foundation.
Entry fee is pegged at P300 for the 3K, P500 for the 5K, and P600 for the 10K.
