As the World’s Teacher’s Day will be celebrated tomorrow, the Department of Education (DepEd)-7 will be giving P1,000 incentive to about 65,000 public school teachers in Central Visayas.

This is in line with DepEd Order No. 026 series of 2019 that tackles the World Teacher’s Day Incentive Benefit. This is the first time the department has given this incentive to the teachers.

DepEd-7 Regional Director Dr. Salustiano Jimenez said that teachers will be receiving the incentive, since the Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) was already downloaded at the Regional Office and this will be forwarded and downloaded to Division Offices.

DepEd has 19 divisions in Central Visayas – 10 are in Cebu, six in Negros Oriental, one in Siquijor and two in Bohol.

The regional director said that it is possible that the teachers will receive the incentive through their ATM accounts on October 5.

“One way of recognizing the efforts of our teachers, their services nga dako man gyud tinood og tabang ang mga teachers kay without these teachers wa sad siguro pud kita karon. Ang atong mga propesyon so it’s because of teachers naa ta karon and then naa tay kinaadman. So, though different experience nato sa mga teachers, but all those teachers across I believe nakahatag gyud nato og mga lesson, mga insights and knowledge, so daghan,” said Jimenez,.

Jimenez also said that they have lined up various activities for the upcoming event.

“Daghan actually from the school level up to the national level naa tay mga activities, mga school they will have their own teacher’s day, kay teachers month ato man gi-celebrate ang World Teacher’s Month from September 5 to October 5. So, the culmination will be this October 5 and then mao na ang national celebration sa culmination will be held in Cagayan De Oro City,” Jimenez added.

In Lapu-Lapu City, Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan has expressed his gratitude to both public and private school teachers for being the second parents to the school children and for doing their job as teachers.

Chan has prepared several items that were being raffled off during yesterday’s National Teacher’s Day celebration in the city with a theme “Gurong Pilipino: Handa sa Makabagong Pagbabago.”

Lapu-Lapu City School Division Superintendent Dr. Marilyn Andales led the event together with the school children, parents and city officials. —
