The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-7 has released more than P2 million to several beneficiaries, who will be venturing into different alternative livelihood undertakings.

DOLE-7 Regional Director Salome O. Siaton said that the local government unit of Barangay Buhisan received a total of P1,426,589.75 financial assistance that will be used to finance the individual starter kits or Negosyo sa Kariton (Nego-Kart) for its identified vendors.

Barangay Buhisan Captain Gremar Barete, who personally claimed the check at the DOLE Regional Office, said that the council would be taking charge of the implementation of the business endeavors of the 76 beneficiaries.

“We will also be taking full responsibility of the monitoring and supervision of the projects of our vendors,” said Barete, in a statement released by DOLE-7.

Early this year, the Barangay Buhisan United Tricycle Drivers' Association, Inc. received close to P500,000 for their Pisonet Café and Retail of Lubricants and Other Motor Parts Project benefiting 40 members.

“Timely kaayo ning hinabang nga nadawat namo para sa among mga vendors tungod kay amo na silang gidid-an sa pagpaninda diha atubangan sa among simbahan. This kind of assistance would really help them a lot. Thank you very much to the Department of Labor and Employment,” said Barete.

Also the members of Bidlisiw Foundation, Inc. located in Barangay Looc, Mandaue City will venture into Saraban Baked Goodies and Catering Services.

The group, according to Tri-City Field Office Chief Emmanuel Y. Ferrer, received from DOLE more than P800,000 which is expected to benefit around 53 members.

“Beneficiaries will be working on how their project will yield about 70 percent increase of their individual income per month,” he said.

The assistance provided to beneficiaries was borne out of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP).

DILEEP is DOLE's contribution to the government's agenda of inclusive growth through massive job generation and poverty reduction.
