Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 Director Albert Ignatius Ferro said they have long been prepared for the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and assured the public that there would be enough police personnel to maintain peace and order.

The Bureau of Fire Protection, Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Coast Guard and other law enforcement agencies would also augment the personnel of the ground.

“Ang atong preparation is nakaanchor doon sa joint implementing directives,” Ferro said.

Every checkpoint and quarantine control post would have a joint force of those agencies and will be closely coordinating with the local government officials.

On the limitation of public transportation, Ferro said that the barangays were directed by the governor to provide a vehicle for those who are allowed to go out. He also said the PNP will provide assistance.

“I am requesting the barangay officials to be at the forefront with us...so that we can have a systematic way of helping others. Ang mga barangay officials, kami ang among saligan sa atong mga community members,” he said.

To those violating the ECQ and would not have enough resources to pay the fines, they would be asked to render community service.

“They will be cleaning the street or whatever community service that may be applicable sa ila,” he said.

On the issue of panic buying, Ferro assured that they will be monitoring it and reminded the public that there is no need to panic at all since the province has enough supply for everyone.

“Be calm, just stay at home and pray and I think we’ll survive this. Our food supply here in Cebu is enough for the next several months,” Ferro said. —
