Moalboal mother gives birth, found COVID- positive

Eleven were declared positive out of the 233 swabs run last May 30 and 31 in Cebu province, one of the cases being a mother from Moalboal town who recently gave birth at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Two of positive cases are repeat tests from Talisay City and Catmon. Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said that of the nine new cases, five are from Talisay, one is from Samboan, one is from Santander, one is from Sogod and one is a mother from Moalboal who recently gave birth at VSMMC.

As for the results for June 1, the province recorded only one positive result and two repeat tests.

This brings the province’s cumulative total to 164.

Meanwhile, the Cebu City Health Department reported more new coronaviru­s disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases than recoveries yesterday with 45 new cases registered.

Of the 45, five are from Barangay Suba and four each are from barangays Camputhaw, San Nicolas, and Pasil.

There are three new cases each from barangays Duljo-Fatima and Sawang Calero.

Two new cases were recorded in barangays Cogon Ramos, Ermita, Lahug, and Pahina Central and one each from barangays Apas, Basak Pardo, Bulacao, Calamba, Capitol, Hipodromo, Kalunasan, Labangon, Lorega, Sambag 1, T. Padilla, Tejero, Tisa, and Tinago.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases to 2,319 with “active cases” at 1,297.

On the other hand, as of yesterday, the total number of recoveries has reached 995.

The city recorded 18 new recoveries yesterday.

Of the 18, 13 are from Barangay Tejero and one each from barangays Labangon, Basak Pardo, Duljo-Fatima, Mambaling, and Mabolo.

The total number of deaths remains at 27. —
