-

A total of P4.5 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated from three arrested suspects in two different buy-bust operations conducted in barangays Bulacao and Tejero, Cebu City late evening Thursday.

The latest buy- bust operation in Sitio IKPYO Daclan, Villagonzalo II, Tejero resulted in the arrest a certain Raymond Doniza, 22, a high-value individual, and a 17-year old boy.

The estimated total weight of shabu confiscated were 100 grams with a value of P680,000.

At around 2:10 p.m. in the same day, elements of Pardo Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation in Sitio Paglaum, Bulacao that resulted into the arrest of a certain Marios Leonardo, 42, a resident of Lawaan 1, Talisay City.

The confiscated shabu has a total weight of 575.6 grams with an estimated value of P3.9 million.

Following the series of buy-bust operations, Cebu City Police Office director, Police Colonel Josefino Ligan, is set to meet with the officers of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to be able to address alleged contacts of illegal drugs being done inside the city jail.

New recruits of Rustico Ygot group who were arrested in a series of buy-bust operations this week reportedly disclosed that their contacts are inside the city jails.

There is no specific date yet for the meeting next week but Ligan said that one of the main points is to find out who are these individuals inside the jails.

“Daghan nga mga information nga ang transaction is still from the inside. We will talk how to address that concern. Apparently naa gyud chance nga ang naa sa sulod magamit and makatawag gamit ang telepono,” said Ligan.

Ligan added that now is the time to come up with plans that would cut off the modus used by the illegal drug groups.

“Para mapahimangno namo sa city jail kung kinsa ning mga tawhana nga maoy maka-transact,” said Ligan. — Iris Hazel M. Mascardo/GMR
