PRO-7 Director Albert Ignatius Ferro said they will comply with the memorandum that PNP Chief Gen. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan has issued that prohibits the posting of ‘obscene” videos on social media using applications while on duty and wearing their uniforms.

“Ang nakabutang man diri is this pertains to videos uploaded in the social media application such as Facebook, Twitter and Tiktok showing PNP-uniformed personnel doing videos while on-duty or while inside the office premise during the office hours,” said Ferro quoting the memorandum issued.

Ferro said he will be strictly imposing this directive since the posting of videos while on duty could affect the “efficiency” of the cops in doing their jobs.

He added he will be advising all his personnel to follow the memorandum and will be warning them with administrative charges if they are seen by the cyber patrol violating the prohibitions.

“If you are on duty, you cannot just do TikTok because this will affect the efficiency of the police... But we will further clarify if the personnel posting could, kay ang naka butang man gud diri during office hours. So the PNP primer on personnel decorum provides that PNP personnel should avoid posting or publishing online with obscene action or for other behaviors that project conduct unbecoming of a police officer,” said Ferro.

Ferro said they might also ask for clarification from the national headquarters if policemen are allowed to post on social media during their rest days.

“Maybe we could still post if the activities are official functions like presscon... But I think the obscene and other TikTok activities will be regulated,” said Ferro.

Ferro said the anti-cyber crime group (ACG) and the Integrity and Monitoring Enforcement Group (IMEG) will be checking to ensure that PRO-7 personnel will follow the rules. —
