Garcia inaugurates 4 Bantayan roads
A day after Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia's dialogue with stakeholders for the reopening of the tourism industry in Bantayan island, she then led the inauguration of the four newly- concreted roads in the island's three towns last Saturday.
Garcia and Fourth District Representative Janice Salim bang on inaugurated the four newly- concreted roads in Barangays Sulangan and Ticad in Bantayan, Barangay San Agustin in Mad ride j os, and Barangay Maricaban in Santa Fe.
In the governor' s Facebook page, the projects reportedly cost P65 million t hat was taken from the province's 2019 first supplemental budget.
This is said to be a part of the first phase of the governor' s provincewide road concreting program.
Garcia and other officials also conducted a groundbreaking t hat signals the start of the construction of three more road concreting projects.
These include the Cog on-Cab ac road, Phase 2 of Sulangan road stretch in Bantayan town, and Barangay Bunakan in Mad ride jo st own. The projects amount to P103.4 million.
Garcia had a two- day visit in Bantayan Island for the re- opening of its tourism industry, as well as for the inspection of the 1.2 kilometer runway extension of Bantayan Airport in Barangay Okoy, Santa Fe.
Last October 11, Garcia also went to Barangay Caurasan in the northern town of Carmen to inspect the widened road in the area which she promised to 14- year- old Vicente Mulato.
The governor said that she will have t he road concreted for Mulato and the school children, so they would no longer have to walk through muddy roads on rainy days. — Mae Fhel Gom- os/ GAN
