-

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has sent immediate assistance to 27 families in Barangays Sambag I, San Antonio, Mabolo and Suba in Cebu City, and in Barangay Lagtang in Talisay City. They were given financial assistance, food packs, masks, face shields, vitamins, and meals.

Go reminded the public to join the bayanihan efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 by cooperating with the government, and strictly following health and safety protocols.

Due to limited transportation and the need to commute to work, Go also gave away bicycles to selected recipients.

Meanwhile, personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the National Housing Authority were also present during the relief distribution activity. The DSWD provided financial assistance while the DTI and NHA assessed and validated potential beneficiaries for t he Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa livelihood program and Emergency Housing Assistance Program, respectively.

For t hose needing medical attention, t he Senator reminded fire victims that they may avail of medical assistance from the nearest Malasakit Centers located at Vicente Sotto Memorial Hospital and St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital which are both in Cebu City. There is also a Malasakit Center in

Talisay District Hospital in Talisay City.

The Malasakit Center is a one- stop shop that brings together under one roof the national agencies from which patients may apply for aid, namely, the Department of Health, DSWD, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and PCSO. There are currently 87 Malasakit Centers nationwide.

Go also assured poor and vulnerable sectors that when it comes to public service, no one must be left behind. He reiterated President Duterte’s directive that once a vaccine against COVID- 19 is tested safe and made available in the market, poor and vulnerable sectors will be prioritized.
