Suppliers all set for Sugbo Negosyo
Beneficiaries of Capitol’s Sugbo Negosyo are already assured of the goods and raw materials for their businesses following the commitment of t he National Food Authority and 15 local merchants.
In a report of Sugbo News, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office chief Marivic Garces made the report in a meeting Thursday with Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Mandaue City Chamber of Commerce president Steven Yu, Department of Trade and Industry 7 chief, Assistant Secretary Asteria Caberte; and Sixth District Board Member Glenn Anthony Soco who chairs t he committee on commerce and trade.
Beneficiaries will redeem the supplies and materials through a digital coupon since the assistance is in kind and not in cash.
The coupon is quick response( QR) coded in which after being scanned, it will provide t he details on goods and raw materials based on the wish list of the beneficiary.
Sugbo Negosyo, a livelihood assistance program of t he Cebu Provincial Government, in partnership with DTI7 and MCCI which was launched on September 30, has reached around 4,700 applicants as of this writing.
The program has three categories, namely, “Negosyong Padayonon” for Category A, “Produktong Sugbuanon” for Category B, and “Mga Serbisyo ug Ginagmay’ng Patigayon” for Category C.
Of t he applicants, 271 showed their interest in starting a “sari- sari” store which falls under Category C.
The assistance f or Category A beneficiary is worth P50,000 while P 20,000 and P 10,000 is allotted for Category B and C, respectively.
The Capitol has allocated P100 million for the said program which will be distributed through the offices of the 17 Provincial Board ( PB) members with P5 million each and P15 million through the office of Vice Governor Hilario Davide III.

While NF A has committed to supply for rice, the 15 other merchants that will supply f or goods and raw materials include Save more, Prince Warehouse, Ga is a no Grand Fiesta Mall in Tabunok, Talisay City for groceries, Bellshayce Trading and Vi r ginia Foods Corporation for meat or processed foods.

Garcia will further discuss the details of the program with t he PB, DTI- 7 a nd MCCI on Monday as the schedule for the awarding of grants will be moved to December. — Mae Fhel K. Gom- os/ GMR
