The new iPads and the Apple Watch Series 7

A new iPad and iPad mini were also unveiled in the recent Apple event, with the iPad mini particularly rousing the interests of techies and tech journalists.

Topped with a screen measuring 8.3-inches, the new iPad mini runs on the A15 bionic chip that powers the iPhone 13, and also comes with provisions to support 5G networks. Its camera has also been upgraded with an ultra-wide lens, which comes with improved aperture rates for better low-light shooting modes.

Thinner and more lightweight compared to previous models, the new iPad mini also features a USB-C port, which feature expands its owners’ options to accessorize their tablets. The USB-C port in the new iPad mini (as opposed to the Lightning port used in older models) has largely been taken by industry analysts as Apple’s way of “unlocking” device owners from only accessorizing their devices with Apple’s proprietary cable-port option.

Unlike the new iPad mini, this year’s iteration of the larger-sized iPad runs on Apple’s A13 chip. The new iPad – identified as iPad (2021) – highlights a screen measuring 10.2-inches, and features a Lightning port, not a USB-C port.

The new Apple Watch Series 7 was also unveiled during the event, and its key update is the bigger control buttons over previous models.

All of the devices unveiled in the “California Streaming” event are set for release by September 24 in overseas markets, with their online pre-order pages now open for those who are interested.
