ARQ fighters locked and loaded for “Engkwentro Kwatro” show
All 11 fighters of ARQ Gym bannered by reigning OPBF Silver flyweight champion April Jay “Astroboy” Abne and OPBF Youth light flyweight titleholder John Paul “Angas ng Cebu” Gabunilas are all set for action-packed battle in the much awaited “Engkwentro Kwatro” of ARQ Promotions scheduled on March 19 at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in
Barangay Pardo, Cebu City.
The 22-year-old Abne (7-1, 3KOs) bears the toughest challenge of them all, taking on his former tormentor Garin “Hellboy” Diagan (8-1, 4KOs) of General Santos City in an expected grudge rematch.
Abne is hell-bent on exacting vengeance at Diagan, who inflicted his first career loss in an embarrassing manner. The pride of Manticao, Misamis Oriental got knocked out by Diagan in just one round during the first meeting on
December 22 last year.
Gabunilas, on the other hand, will try to extend his hot streak when he trade blows with WBF Intercontinental minimumweight king Clyde Azarcon (17-3-1, 6KOs) of Big Yellow Gym.
The 21-year-old Gabunilas is coming off three successive victories via stoppage, the most latest was a fourth-round KO of Jonathan Almacen that earned him the OPBF Youth belt during the “Engkwentro Tres” in
December 2021.
The 11-bout show also features the ARQ debut of the undefeated super bantamweight prospect Bryan James Wild (6-0, 5KOs) and former amateur standout Ramel “Junjun” Macado, Jr.
Wild will trade blows with Marjo Peincenaves of Cebu City while Macado, a former member of the national team, will have his baptism of fire in the pro ranks against Jhon May Acope of Manticao, Misamis Oriental.
The rest of the card pits Rodex Piala vs Rhonvex Capuloy of Big Yellow Gym; Berland Robles vs Jovani Casin of Cagayan de Oro; Ian Paul Abne vs Royder Borbon of Cebu City;Yerroge Gura vs Jovanie Tagusi of General Santos City;Brix Piala vs Julvert Tubiano of Manila; and Augusto Abne vs Anthony Gebuela of Big Yellow Gym.
Rodel Wenceslao will also be seeing action in ARQ’s first show of the year against a TBA (to be announced) opponent.
