3 big cities in Cebu log zero new cases

For the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the three highlyurba­nized cities in Cebu – Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Lapu-Lapu City – altogether logged no new case of coronaviru­s infection on Saturday, April 16, 2022.

Out of the local government units in Central Visayas monitored by the Department of Health-7, only the provinces of Cebu and Negros Oriental reported infections on that day at two cases apiece. The rest, including Bohol and Siquijor provinces, logged zero COVID-19 cases.

According to the data from the Cebu City Emergency Operations Center, the city is now down to 31 active cases.

On the other hand, LapuLapu has 21 active cases left while Mandaue has 20, according to DOH-7’s tally.

As of April 16, 2022, Cebu province has 234 active cases. Bohol has three active cases, Siqujor has six, and Negros Oriental has 17.

VACCINATIO­N CONTINUES

Meanwhile, Cebu City’s vaccinatio­n campaign resumes today after the Holy Week break and after some disruption­s due to tropical depression Agaton and weather disturbanc­e Basyang.

Four regular sites are open for vaccinatio­n in Cebu City: Robinsons Galleria, SM City Cebu, SM Seaside City, and UC Banilad.

All regular sites will be accommodat­ing first and second doses and booster shots.

There will be four popup sites open today, April 18, in Cebu City. These include Plaza Sugbo at the Cebu City Hall, Diocese Buot-Taup, Pamutan Integrated School and Sudloon 1 gym.

All four pop-up sites will also be accommodat­ing vaccines for the primary series (first and second doses) and those due for boosters.

For the 12-17-yearolds, vaccinatio­n is open at seven sites – Diocese BuotTaup, Pamutan Integrate School, Robinsons Galleria, SM City Cebu, and Seaside City, Sudlon 1 gym, and the University of Baniad. All sites will not be accommodat­ing booster shots.

For 5-11-year-olds, two sites will be open – Ayala Center-Cebu and Robinsons Cybergate. For this population, only those with text advisory from the CebuCityVa­x will be accommodat­ed accordingl­y. No walk-ins will be allowed even if pre-registered.
