Couple in estafa, carnapping raps falls

A couple who has been wanted for charges of estafa and carnapping finally fell into the hands of authoritie­s in Cebu City yesterday.

Police identified the suspects as Maria Brenda Barsana and Bugner Barsana.

Elements from the Cebu Provincial Police Office arrested them inside a lodge in Cebu City on Friday evening.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Gifter Sucalit, deputy director for operation of CPPO, the Barsana couple is facing three warrants of arrest for swindling, estafa and carnapping.

Sucalit said that based on the informatio­n they have gathered, it is estimated that the couple were able to swindle about P50 million to P100 million from the victims of their shady operations.

Their victims were allegedly various individual­s in different parts of the country, including Cebu, Baguio, Palawan, Misamis

Occidental, Camiguin and other parts of Luzon.

Police, however, did not explain the modus operandi of

the two suspects.

No details were also provided on the carnapping case as of this writing.

Sucalit said they received informatio­n on the location of the two suspects, prompting them to effect the warrants of arrest against them.

The arrested couple is now detained at a facility of the CPPO.
