Rama urges defeated bets to join post-election cleanup

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has announced that the city government is set to hold a “clean-up day” to clear the city of the campaign materials used during the May 9, 2022 national and local elections.

Rama urged everyone, including the losing candidates, to participate as he stressed that losing should not be the reason for someone to stop serving.

“I have my debacle. When I had my debacle, I cleaned the city. I joined with my group because losing should not stop anyone from serving. If you want to serve your city, and you love your city, be the solution,” he said.

Rama said he made a clear statement to City Administrator Suzanne Ardosa to set up a task force for such purpose.

He will soon issue a mayor’s directive for the matter.

“She's (Ardosa) been working it out, to make the city clean. I want the garbage focused and this time, everybody should be helping— fraternities, business, owner of establishments,” said Rama.

“If you love our city, I love my city, if I have caused making my city -- shall we say with all these Mike Rama (posters), I will take the initiative even joining in the clean-up,” he added.

As reported earlier, the City Environmental Sanitation Enforcement Team (CESET) and other City Hall departments have already started on Monday night with the cleaning up of schools in the city right after the voting.
