The Universal Hotels and Resorts Inc. (UHRI) pledged to prioritize hiring Cebuanos for NUSTAR Resort and Casino, which will soon open at the South Road Properties (SRP).

In a statement, the Gokongwei-led company said Cebu’s labor force stands to gain from the opening of the NUSTAR Resort and Casino as the property has made available hundreds of job opportunities within 2022.

The nine-hectare NUSTAR property has three hotels, several restaurants of varied cuisine and retail shops carrying luxury brands in them.

As of Mar 31, 2022, NUSTAR has hired 889 people, 60 percent of them are Cebu-based.

Today, the company continues to seek applicants suited for administrative, operation, and executive positions.

“Qualifications being equal, Cebu-based appli

cants get hiring priority,” the statement said.

For the casino operations, jobs available are dealers, slots ambassadors, count clerks, and security ambassadors.

As more hotels and other tourism players open in Cebu, NUSTAR offers competitive compensation packages and privileges to qualified applicants.

Compensation package upon regularization includes rice subsidy, medicine, and Christmas allowance and medical insurance coverage.

NUSTAR team members can avail themselves of free shuttle to workplace, a meal per shift, free uniform, and free laundry service.

NUSTAR is an integrated resort development that will include a luxury mall, a convention center, a performing arts theater, a

skydeck, a boardwalk and a leisure park.

According to Fili Urban Resort general manager Paul Lee, the opening of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) is a major boost to Cebu’s charm to international tourists and investors, adding to the award-winning Cebu International Airport, which is the second largest airport in the country.
