Red, Blue start hot in Thursday Club basketball tourney

The Red and Blue teams got off to flying starts in the 2022 season of Jugan Thursday Basketball Club at the Jugan covered court in Consolacion.

Jerome Ayuda topscored with 16 points while Rolly Vacunador and

Jonathan Gerobiesechipped in 13 and 11 markers, respectively, as Red escaped past Black, 75-72.

Red took a 61-52 edge after three quarters, then stymied Black’s endgame rally to squeeze out a three-point victory.

Francis Dumadag paced Black with 14 points while Randy Compra and

Em Tabago connived for 24 points in a losing effort. In the other game, the Blue squad slammed Maroon, 7559, behind the 27-point explosion of Gil Dumadag.

Marvin Boyles and Jason Apas tallied 20 points in between them for Blue, which kept the hapless Maroon at bay since coasting to a commanding 46-25 lead at halftime.

Nico Yap scored 14 while April Sabang had 10 points for Maroon.

The tournament is organized by the Jugan Thursday Basketball Club headed by their president Neil Pepito and vice president Randy Compra.

The rest of the club’s officers are Aneck Tajale (secretary), Delio Pilapil (treasurer), Tino Valle (auditor), Dado Ygot and Dante Infante (PRO), and Em Tabago, Carlo Sasing and Wata Mariñas (Sgt. at Arms). The Board of Directors are Gil Dumadag, Julito Decierdo, Toto Sales, Shadrock Mahinay, Victor Kho, Gerome Taborada, Rolando Gelido, and Dodz Lao. —
