Carbon night market now up thrice a week

Due to public demand, the already started “Sunday Market” in Carbon has been extended for another two days every week.

From only every Sunday night, the organizers decided to have the night market done for three days from Friday to Sunday, 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The Sunday Market was first launched last month and was initiated by Cebu2World, affiliate of Megawide Construction Corp, the developer of the Carbon Market modernization project.

It provides a wide opportunity for market vendors to sell their products, delicacies in Cebu, sutukil foods and more.

Its stalls are located on Quezon Boulevard, the longest stretch of the Carbon Market.

Raquel Arce, head of the City Market Operations Division, said that the place is very colorful and fun because of the presence of invited bands, which also help attract a lot of customers to Carbon.

“Ang Thursday, Friday, Saturday, ari ta sa viaduct area. Unya ang Sunday, ari ta sa Quezon Boulevard. Ang purpose gyod ani kay to revive sa lugar kay patay ni nga area. Murag gihimo nalang siyag parkingan, apan karon, mas mo-boom na siya,” said Arce.

Arce felt that since the Sunday Market started, the number of shoppers in the Quezon Boulevard area has increased.

She is confident that more shoppers will enter the market which, in turn, would be a great help to the vendors.

Another attraction of Carbon Market is the Santo Niño Chapel at the Senior Citizens’ Park.

The chapel is located near the Cebu City Hall’s Executive Building.

It covers an area of 300 square meters, inspired by both the shape of Santo Nino’s crown and the fluid motion of the Sinulog dance.

The park-goers also have a good view of the sea and the awesome Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway while enjoying some products from different food stalls around.
