New MTRCB, FDCP appointees
Romnick Sarmenta, Cris Villanueva, and the other cast members of “2 Good 2 Be True” only have good words and high praises for the professionalism and compassion for the show’s lead stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
“As a father, I find them amusing. I would be delighted if I were one of their parents. I observe them supporting and caring for each other as well as their co-stars, Gillian, Bianca, Alyssa, and Pamu,” said Romnick, who plays Eloy’s (Daniel) father in the series.
“Whenever we are in our hotel, they do not choose with whom to socialize with. In their eyes, we are a family. It is something very refreshing. In my previous shows, I have seen other artists who were distant from other cast members, but KathNiel is an exception,” he said at a recent media conference.
Cris, who portrays Captain Rosales, lauds KathNiel’s portrayal of their characters and expresses his comfort working with them.
“I agree with Romnick’s observation. They look good together and complement one another. Their acting in the series is believable and it is not just the lines but how they portray it. We also see Eloy’s personality as a kind-hearted man in him (DJ). He will try to solve any of our problems and find solutions. He will discuss it with you in real life. We are comfortable working with them,” Cris shared.

*** President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appoints Lala Sotto-Antonio as the new chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
A former Quezon City councilor, Sotto-Antonio is the daughter of former Senate President Tito Sotto.
There was some confusion since there was news that it was actor Johnny Revilla who was named as the new MTRCB chair. It turned out Revilla took his oath of office as MTRCB member but not was not appointed as its chairman.
Former matinee idol and FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano mainstay Tirso Cruz III was named as the new chair of the Film Development Council of the Philippines, replacing concurrent chair Lisa Dino-Seguerra who was reappointed to a new-three year term by former president Rodrigo Duterte.
When asked to comment on the status of Ms. Dino, Press Secretary Trixie Angles issued this correction:
“I had earlier mentioned that she might fall under MC 1. However, upon clarification with Ms. Dino, the circumstances are as follows:
“Under RA 9617 the chairman and CEO has a term of three years, unless removed by the President.”
Ms. Dino was reappointed by President Duterte and was serving a second term when President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. exercised his power to remove the current chair and appoint a new one.
However, while Mr. Tirso Cruz III’s documents are pending, Ms. Dino remains in a holdover capacity.
In video message she shared, Ms. Dino disclosed that it was only thru social media that she learned that a new head of FDCP had been appointed. She respects the decision of the President and said she will ensure a smooth transition for the formal turnover of the FDCP office to its new chairman.
In fairness to Chair Lisa, she did a good job as the head of the FDCP as the office had many accomplishments during her term. With Tirso as new chairman, we hope that he will continue with the notable projects initiated by Lisa, especially the ones that would benefit the entertainment industry.
