Robbery suspect caught on cam arrested

The police have arrested one of the suspects in the robbery along Clavano Street, Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City Tuesday morning after the photos of the suspects riding a motorcycle posted by the victim went viral.

The suspect was identified as John Mark Sabulao alias Opao, 31, a resident of Barangay Lahug. He was arrested along Acacia Street, Barangay Capitol Site.

According to Police Captain Jefferson Sinfuego, chief of Abellana Police Station 2, they conducted a hot pursuit operation against the suspects last night when they received a call about an armed person in sitio OPRRA, Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City.

They went to the place and found Sabulas and arrested him with a .38 caliber weapon with four bullets.

When the police returned to the station, the owner of the motorcycle that the robbery suspects were riding, Archie Muaña, was there and pointed to alias Opao as the one who borrowed his motorcycle.

It was said that the blue t-shirt he was wearing matched with the CCTV footage that went viral on social media, and the owner of the motorcycle also pointed out that it was similar to what he was wearing during the robbery.

Validated by the police, the pictures were shown and it was positive that alias Opao was the backrider.

"Makita namo sa screenshot sa CCTV mao to ang naay patik sa kamot ug sa paa," said Sinfuego.

The driver of the motorcycle is alias Banban who is hiding according to the police especially since his partner in crime has been arrested.

Sabulao denied that he was involved in the robbery but Sinfuego said that the suspect was positively identified by the owner of the motorcycle as well as the one they robbed.

The police contacted the victim to go to the police station to execute an affidavit and to charge the suspects.

The police described that the pictures and videos posted by the victim were a big help to arrest the perpetrato­rs of the crime.
