Three provincial and district hospitals of Cebu Province have emerged as top performing facilities that maintained their good performance in health services, thus making them “Hall of Famers.”

These Capitol-run hospitals are the Cebu Provincial Hospital (CPH) Balamban and Carcar and the Ricardo L. Maningo Memorial Hospital in San Francisco town, Camotes Island.

Capitol’s 16 provincial and district hospitals have been assessed and evaluated through the Cebu Provincial Hospital Monitoring Program.

These health facilities maintained its perfect 5.0 rating during the latest round of assessment conducted by the evaluation team headed by the Capitol’s consultant on health, Dr. Mary Jean Loreche.

With this rating, these hospitals can apply for Level II hospitals before the Department of Health.

According to the Sugbo News, the Capitol’s news portal, other hospitals have also improved their services like the CPH Danao which showed vast improvement from the 3.0 rating in the first round of evaluation to 4.6 rating on the latest assessment and the Bantayan District Hospital which scored perfect 5.0 from its previous rate of 3.8 score.

These hospitals were declared as “Much Improved Hospitals.”

During the past evaluation since September last year, CPH Danao was among the facilities that did not do well in its performance after the evaluation team observed some areas that really need improvement like the hospital’s structure where there were cracked floors and not-so-organized emergency rooms.

This time the CPH Danao stepped up and improved their services.

It now has an established hemodialysis center and ongoing construction of an extension building.

Early this year, the evaluation team submitted to the governor the result of the first round of their assessment of the 16 provincial and district hospitals.

The team recommended to the hospitals to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the facilities; infrastructure concerns since some of the structures need repair; and the food to be served must be always nutritious.

During the presentation of the results, the governor had warned the chief of hospitals and the staff to “shape up or ship out” in 60 days.

In the second round of evaluation, the evaluators saw major improvements in the services of the Capitolrun health facilities.

“I just wanna say this loud and clear. The Province of Cebu has one of the best healthcare systems in place,” said Dr. Loreche, as quoted by the Capitol PIO.

The hospitals were evaluated based on the following criteria -- leadership and management of the facility; client satisfaction; infrastructure and economics.

After the good remark heard from the evaluation team, the governor has commended the efforts of the health workers and plans to institutionalize the monitoring program to the hospitals to make sure that better health services are given to the province’s constituents. —
