Genuine servant leaders, please!

-

Beholden to their mortal god, when commanded to prioritize the Maharlika Investment Scam, este, Fund, they did, ‘til the early hours of the morning.

The Filipino people woke up to learn that the MIF had been approved by the Senate, with only one opposing vote, that of the courageous, independent Senator Risa Hontiveros!

Why the rush? Why not rush when the command has been issued by the god they worship for their political survival? Remember there will be an election in 2025.

What do you think? Were there pledges of funds in exchange for votes for the MIF?

Why the rush for the approval of the MIF? Why couldn’t the legislators wait ‘til the next day? Why ram the decision through a session that proceeded ‘til midnight and about 2 a.m. the next day?

Of course, their god lauded them for being committed and genuine public servants.

Servants, yes! But definitely, not genuine public servants for the people. That was very clear.

If the MIF is flaunted to be for the benefit of the Filipino people, why were the Filipinos not given ample time and information to learn about and express their approval/ disapproval for the MIF?

The term Maharlika itself is already clearly elitist, referring to the noble class, not the masses of Filipinos. Investment funds for the Maharlikas.

Why were the Filipino people not consulted?

Please recall. The Filipino people are remembered only during campaign period and ‘til election day. Once the votes are in, the winners take all benefits, the masses end up, as always, the losers. The biggest losers among the voters are those who sell their votes in exchange for abuse of power and public funds.

How do you think the government employees/pensioners who voted in the previous elections because they believed in misinformation/lies and did not bother to reflect on each candidate’s issues/principles feel now that their hard-earned funds may be used/invested without their approval and consent?

Of course, the dictator’s son and his loyal legislative and executive followers will assure the Filipino people that this investment is solid and will reap benefits for all. Really?

However, what if the investment fails? What will happen to the public funds and pension hard-earned by the Filipino people? Don’t you agree the Filipinos should have been given more time and information about the MIF and their approval and decision solicited?

Do you think the decision about the MIF should have been rushed the way it was and its approval decided, not by the Filipino people, but by a biased majority in Congress, and their god in Malacañang?

Aside from the unexplained rush by legislators and FM Jr., MIF critics and oppositionists have raised objections, some of these as follows:

1.) The sloppiness displayed by the legislators shown in the conflicting provisions of the approved versions. Do you think the legislators really read the MIF through carefully, provision by provision?

2.) Not enough and unified safety nets for the public funds.

3.) The executive and legislative should focus on immediately responding now, not later, to continuing problems like, among others: a.) The ₱13.86 trillion national government debt which is now 61% of our GDP. Instead of public funds used for the welfare of the Filipinos, substantial interest and amount will be paid for this huge debt, incurred mostly during the Duterte administration, and, b.) the widespread hunger and poverty, unemployment, homelessness, absence of accessible and quality health services.

4.) Funds to be taken initially from government banks worth billions are still public funds, raised and owned by Filipino taxpayers. How dare Malacañang and Congress decide on these funds that do not belong to them!

Urgently needed: Genuine servant leaders who will prioritize the Filipino people first, before any private/family interests.

“How dare Malacañang and Congress decide on these funds that do not belong to them!”
