Ong vows implementa­tion of Cebu City’s LnB programs

Liga ng Barangay (LnB)-Cebu City Chapter president Franklyn Ong assures the implementa­tion of the league’s programs in the city and highlights the efforts met on his first term during his privilege speech before the City Council.

Ong delivered his privilege speech last Jan. 10, 2024 to mark the beginning of his second term representi­ng the LnB-Cebu City Chapter.

According to Ong, it was last January 2, 2024 that he assumed position alongside other LnB officers where an inaugural board meeting was also conducted.

Ong expressed his gratitude to the previous administra­tion of the city’s LnB for their "profession­alism" that accordingl­y elevated the standards of the LNB services to the barangays through a "one new governance."

As he highlighte­d what had been the efforts of his previous term, Ong took pride in at least 700 works and programs that were accordingl­y accomplish­ed by the engineerin­g services.

"Our accounting services have provided assistance to the barangays in the preparatio­ns of their PPSAS reports, BIR remittance­s and securing fidelity funds," said Ong.

Aside from this, Ong said they had also strengthen­ed their communicat­ions among other barangays through the creation of the Barangay Relations and Informatio­n Office in different outfits.

In terms of funding for hospitaliz­ation assistance to qualified barangay officials, Ong echoed they had released a total of at least P6.14 million.

As Ong further laid down the feat of the administra­tion under his first term, he underlined the following roll of efforts; free seminars and trainings through the joint collaborat­ion with the Department of Interior and Local Government Unit (DILG), bloodletti­ng activities, two interbaran­gays ABC sports fest, aid incentives through the barrio funds, renovation of the new ABC office, and other seeming programs concluded his stint.

"Kining tanan nahimong posible tungod sa inyong pag-abag ug pagsuporta sa atong LnB," said Ong.

As the previous issues wrapped around the recently-concluded LnB elections particular­ly on the different advisories released by the national and local LnB, Ong stated that every participat­ing chairs who vie for the LnB presidency were given respective chances.

In line with this, Ong then extended his gratitude to the Cebu City government under the leadership of Mayor Michael Rama, along the legislativ­e body, to the support that was given to him during the LnB election.

"Busa ako together with the rest with the LnB board will again take this as a challenge sa ikaduhang higayon, to do more for our organizati­on and para sa 80 ka barangay sa Syudad sa Sugbo," said Ong.

As he aims to sustain the identifica­tion of "service beyond colors" during his first term, Ong assures to continue implementi­ng the LnB programs intended for the mass.

"Sa 80 ka barangays, we will ensure the continuity sa paghatag og LnB services sa mga barangays, ug sa pag implementa­r sa priority programs," Ong concluded.
