COCOPEA to hold 4th national congress
The Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA), the unifying voice of private education in the Philippines with over 1,800 member institutions, will conduct the 4th National COCOPEA Congress on Feb. 2829, 2012 at the Quadricentennial Pavilion in UST.
Five educational associations comprise COCOPEA: Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities (ACSCU); Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP); Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities ( PACU); Philippine Association of Private Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAPSCU); and the Technical- Vocational School Associations of the Philippines (TEVSAPHIL).
The theme of this year’s COCOPEA convention is “Reforming Philippine Education: Issues, Challenges and So- lutions.” The objectives of the two-day conference are: to examine the current reform initiatives in Philippine education; to scrutinize the legislative agenda of the 15th Congress; to identify priority issues and challenges in the light of the reform initiatives and the legislative agenda of the 15th Congress; to develop actions and strategies in order to effectively respond to these priority issues and challenges; and to highlight the role of COCOPEA in this critical period of change.
President Aquino will deliver the conference’s keynote address.
COCOPEA member institutions from Luzon A (Regions 1, 2, 3 and CAR), Luzon B (Regions 4 and 5), NCR, Visayas and Mindanao will also have regional consultative assemblies during the confab to discuss and formulate resolutions for the reform of Philippine education.
