COCOPEA to hold 4th national congress

The Coordinati­ng Council of Private Educationa­l Associatio­ns (COCOPEA), the unifying voice of private education in the Philippine­s with over 1,800 member institutio­ns, will conduct the 4th National COCOPEA Congress on Feb. 2829, 2012 at the Quadricent­ennial Pavilion in UST.

Five educationa­l associatio­ns comprise COCOPEA: Associatio­n of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universiti­es (ACSCU); Catholic Educationa­l Associatio­n of the Philippine­s (CEAP); Philippine Associatio­n of Colleges and Universiti­es ( PACU); Philippine Associatio­n of Private Schools, Colleges, and Universiti­es (PAPSCU); and the Technical- Vocational School Associatio­ns of the Philippine­s (TEVSAPHIL).

The theme of this year’s COCOPEA convention is “Reforming Philippine Education: Issues, Challenges and So- lutions.” The objectives of the two-day conference are: to examine the current reform initiative­s in Philippine education; to scrutinize the legislativ­e agenda of the 15th Congress; to identify priority issues and challenges in the light of the reform initiative­s and the legislativ­e agenda of the 15th Congress; to develop actions and strategies in order to effectivel­y respond to these priority issues and challenges; and to highlight the role of COCOPEA in this critical period of change.

President Aquino will deliver the conference’s keynote address.

COCOPEA member institutio­ns from Luzon A (Regions 1, 2, 3 and CAR), Luzon B (Regions 4 and 5), NCR, Visayas and Mindanao will also have regional consultati­ve assemblies during the confab to discuss and formulate resolution­s for the reform of Philippine education.
