Phl College of Occupational Medicine annual convention slated
The Philippine College of Occupational Medicine ( PCOM), the specialty organization in Occupational Medicine and accredited by Philhealth, the Philippine Medical Association and the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians, will hold its 34th annual national convention on March 16- 17 at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria on Ortigas Ave.
With its 19 chapters all over the country, it has always championed the cause of preserving, promoting and enhancing the health, wellness and safety of workers, especially in the workplace.
It has been an active partner of several working groups such as the PSHPLAS, PHILCAT, PTA, OCGAW, Osteoporosis Society, the OSH Network and other government agencies, namely the Departments of Labor and Employment ( DOLE) and Health ( DOH).
In 1984, a MOA between BWC of the DOLE and PCOM was signed authorizing PCOM to conduct the Basic Course on Occupational Health an awarded its Certificate of Accreditation as a Safety Training Organization. This accreditation was renewed on July 19, 2011. PCOM has continuously engaged in the training of occu- pational physicians since 1981.
PCOM enhances the professional capability and credibility of its members through its Continuing Medical Education program.
This year ’ s convention theme “Occupational Medicine: Getting Bigger, Better and Bolder” aims to respond to the continuing challenges faced by health care providers engaged in occupational health providers. The convention organizing committee is led by PCOM national president Dr. Marilyn Alentajan and convention overall chair Dr. Rufo Aranjuez.
Organized by the Philippine College of Occupational Medicine, the 34th Annual National Convention is not just a celebration of its existence, but also an affirmation of its commitment to passion and advocacy in both national and international realms.
