Lyceum continues to contribute to education excellence on its 60th year

-

The Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU Manila) community launched its 60th year of consistently contributing to the country’s educational system and improvement of its human resources last year. LPU president lawyer Roberto Laurel stated LPU’S year-long celebration with a short speech: “We must be reminded that age alone does not make us grow. As my predecessor, Sen. Sotero Laurel, once said, ‘The measure of growth is ibn dedication and uwavering effort at self-improvement.’ And using this standard, I am proud to say that LPU has grown tremendously since its establishment in 1952.

“From the various accredited programs we have in place, to our ISO 9000:2008 certification, to the grant of our autonomous status, and to the many significant achievements of the members of the LPU community, particularly our students, we have indeed grown.” Laured vowed: “But we will not rest on our laurels. We will improve further at even faster pace for excellence has no limit. That is my dream that I share with you today on this auspicious occasion — the launch of our Diamond Jubilee Anniversary.”

Leading the list of LPU graduates are House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., a law graduate, class of 1960. Another awardee as outstanding alumnae in public service is 2008 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for Government Service, former Isabela Province governor Grace Padaca, who graduated with a BSBA Accountancy in 1984. In journalism, LPU graduate broadcast journalist Gus Abelgas, radio broadcaster Gerry Baja of DZMMABS-CBN, and Joel Reyes Zobel of DZBB are among the many who finished their journalism courses in LPU.
