Matrade opens trade opportunities in aviation industry
The Embassy of Malaysia Trade Office (Matrade) Manila launched possible trade opportunities between Malaysian companies specializing in aviation-related products and services and Philippine companies and government agencies engaged in the aviation and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) industry with a threeday special marketing mission (SMM) last March 12-14, 2012.
At least five top officials of Malaysian companies touchedbase with Philippine private companies and government agencies involved in the aviation industry to discuss relevant business opportunities, possible partnerships, and explore possible areas of mutually-benefi- cial collaboration in the aviation industry during the three-day SMM.
Nazrul Hisham Bin Nawi, CEO, and Mohd Yahaya Bin Rosdi, chief business development officer, presented CTRM Aviation Sdn Bhd, a company previously engaged in the manufacturing and assembly of light aircraft but has gone on to diversify its business operations to the local and regional general aviation industry. Hee Hwee Leng, International Marketing, represented Avialite Sdn Bhd, a fully-owned Malaysian manufacturer of Light Emitting Diode (LED) aviation warning lights. Naguib Mohd Nor, CEO, represented Strand Aerospace Malaysia, an Airbus-approved spe- cialist aerospace structures analysis company. Also expected to be represented during the SMM is Subang Skypark Sdn Bhd, a company that offers world-class products and services in aviation and lifestyle.
The SMM was spearheaded by Matrade under the helm of Har Man Ahmad, Trade Commissioner, who also led the charge in enlightening the Malaysian business contingent on the trade climate as well as the intricacies of possibly doing business in the Philippine civil aviation industry through brief presentations and round-table discussion at the Matrade office in the afternoon of the first day of the SMM.
In addition to Ahmad, also present during the presentation sessions and roundtable discussion are Helen Casco, senior investment specialist of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry and Carl Benedict De Guzman, officer-in-charge for air worthiness of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.
In addition to their business meetings with Philippine private companies and government agencies engaged in the aviation industry set by Matrade for them, officials of each Malaysian aviation-related products and services companies also had their pre-arranged individual business meetings with other entities during the second and third day of the SMM.
