Bradley expects Manny to be ready

- By ABAC CORDERO

Timothy Bradley has work cut out for him that he’s not paying attention to any or all issues concerning Manny Pacquiao outside the ring.

Bradley said he expects Pacquiao to be the same old Pacquiao when they dispute the WBO welterweight crown on June 9 at the MGM Grand.

“I really don’t pay attention to it, but I don’t think that it’s going to have any kind of effect on our fight, whatever he’s going through,” Bradley said.

According to www.ringtv.com, the 28-yearold Bradley, undefeated in 28 fights, said he expects Pacquiao to be 100 percent ready, physically and mentally.

“It won’t affect his performance. I think that he’ll be full-fledged ready and there won’t be any distractions. He’ll be ready to face me,” said Bradley.

Pacquiao has been in the news lately and they’re not related to boxing.

The fighting congressman from Sarangani province is facing tax issues back home even if the boxer himself said his legal staff is working on the documents concerning his tax declarations.

Pacquiao was also accused of harboring a suspect in a carnapping case. The boxer denied the accusation and filed charges of libel against the newsman who wrote the article.

Of course, there’s the ongoing defamation case with Floyd Mayweather Jr., a case which at the rate it’s moving may take forever.

Bradley said these are all non-issues as far as their anticipated fight is concerned.

“Like I said, though, I really don’t know too much about what’s going on with Manny, to be honest with you, I just really don’t pay attention to it,” Bradley told boxing scribe Lem Satterfield.

“I’ve been tending to my business. I know what’s going on with Tim Bradley. I just tend to my business, and I don’t know too much about what’s going on with Manny,” he added.

Bradley said it’s over the past few weeks it’s been all work, work and work for him, saying he’s been in and out of the gym or on the road working out.

“I just have something one day every day of the week, whether it’s running, boxing or strength and conditioning, but I just make sure that I stay active and keep my body in shape and toned up.”

Bradley also said he’d do 10 weeks of training but sounded like he’s ready to fight anytime.

“I’m already in great shape because I stay in training. I work out regularly about five days a week,” he said.

Pacquiao, again despite all the issues around him, said he’s just about to start training as well. He said a couple of weeks ago he’d do at least eight weeks of training.

“Dapat ready tayo (We must be ready),” said the boxer who has spoken to God, in a dream, and was told to retire from boxing.

Bradley wouldn’t hear any of that either.
