PWU holds 89th baccalaureate, commencement rites
The Philippine Women’s University will hold its 89th commencement exercises with former Budget Minister and Assemblyman Dr. Manuel Alba as speaker on March 31, 2012 (Saturday), 8 a.m. at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City.
Alba will likewise be conferred the Conrado Benitez Heritage Award for “loving sustained, dedicated, selfless service to fellowmen reflecting the values for which the late noted educator, constitutionalist and civic leader stood for: moral integrity, deep love of country, gentleness and serenity.”
Leading the 888 graduates are honorable mention Celestine Elvin Yalong and Aryan Ann Vargas, both Underwood scholars with the degree of Bachelor of Arts, major in Communication Arts. Some 36 foreign students are candidates for graduation composed of Indonesians, Chinese and Vietnamese, among others and 272 from the Graduate School, majority of whom are with the degrees of Master in Nursing, Business and Public Administration.
The diplomas will be handed by president Francisco Benitez, assisted by University registrar Dr. Liwayway Dapito, while the pledge of loyalty to alma mater will be led by PWU Alumni Association president and Board ex- officio member Amelia Zorayda Alonzo. Board chairperson Helena Benitez will give a special message.
On March 30, PWU will hold the baccalaureate ceremonies at PICC.
