PARIS — Under the dome of the Grand Palais, the Biennale des Antiquaires celebrates the exceptional beauty and craftsmanship of rare objects from antiques to contemporary fine jewelry. Organized in Paris from Sept. 14-23 under the aegis of the Syndicat National des Antiquaires -SNA ( National Antique Dealers Union), the 26th Biennale des Antiquaries will receive 150 exhibitors compared to 86 in 2010 with the reopening of Salon d’honneur, closed since 1940.
To celebrate the expansion of Biennale des Antiquaires, Christian Deydier, president of SNA, has entrusted Karl Lagerfeld to be the artistic director of the event. Christian Deydier sees Karl Lagerfeld as a design genius and a leading collector with extraordinary imagination, fine honed taste and stage sense that makes him the perfect candidate.

With Asia’s growing interest in antiques, SNA has also laid its eyes here, inviting the talented Wallace Chan, world-recognized jeweler, to be the first Chinese, as well as the first Asian to exhibit in the Biennale des Antiquaires.
