THE NEXT FOUR YEARS AND BEYOND

The Vice President, through the HUDCC, has set the direction towards making opportunities available through housing options that are decent, affordable, and responsive to the diverse and changing needs of homeless and underprivileged Filipino families. Guided by the principles of transparency and good governance, the HUDCC will continue to provide frameworks and enabling policies that will govern the concerned agencies and LGUS in the implementation of housing and urban development plans and activities. In terms of housing assistance, the HUDCC aims to provide homes to at least 1.5 million families by 2016.

To achieve this, HUDCC shall pursue the following thrusts: 1. Create alternative funds and mobilize resources to spur housing production. 2. Build a strong partnership with LGUS to accelerate housing production, reduce cost, and make houses more affordable. 3. Create an investment-friendly environment in the Housing Industry. 4. Institute a National Resettlement Policy Framework and National Slum Upgrading Strategy. With these thrusts, HUDCC envisions that mass housing programs with alternative housing technologies, schemes and approaches will be accelerated and programs on asset reform and sustainable communities will be strengthened. Further, the Council targets that housing for low income government and private sector employees will be provided.

Together with HUDCC and the key shelter agencies, the Vice President will push for the implementation of these steps for sustainable housing and urban development, and ultimately for the improvement of the lives of the Filipino people. Gaganda ang buhay sa pabahay at hanapbuhay!
