It’s very important for me to take calcium supplements and calciumrich foods, because I actively play badminton as my sport. It also helps me maintain good bone health and avoid some injuries. It’s also good for my overall health.

Love Tulio, 21, administrative assistant

Low bone density runs in my family so I am compelled to take calcium supplements every day. Plus, it’s hard to take chances because I know that not taking these supplements will take a toll on me when I’m older

Maria Theresa Arellano-Hernandez, 34, college professor I take calcium supplements. I drink highcalcium milk and take a calcium pill. I do this because I have a back problem. I have scoliosis. I don’t know if it’s psychological or what, but when I fail to drink those, my back aches at the end of the day. Plus, with all the advertisements about women who lack calcium especially those at my age, I feel a bit scared about how my back would be like when I get older.

Lilia Samarita, 64, college professor

I take calcium supplements because I experience a lot of aches just like everyone at my age. I still want to be useful so I’m taking all possible measures to make a difference in the lives of people who will cross my path. These supplements are not enough. It has to be accompanied by the right diet and exercise where I am amiss.

Sasah Valle-Castillo, 36, college professor

I don’t take calcium supplements but my diet includes a lot of cheese, milk and vegetables. It is vital that I eat this stuff because I am a multi hyphenated woman (mom, wife, teacher, graduate student, daughter, sister and friend) I have to make sure that I function well.
