Hot guys who cook

- By Cate De Leon

Some titles don’t need an ounce of creativity because spelling it out as it is is enough to turn heads and whet appetites. I mean, isn’t that why you’re reading this right now? It is every lady and beki’s dream to have a man who is adept at making good eats and who, himself, is good enough to eat. And starting June 25, the likes of food columnist Erwan Heussaff, model Victor Basa, ex-MTV VJ Utt, and many more savory specimens will be catering to our wishes in the kitchen where all the, uh, heat happens. We certainly didn’t pass up the chance to interview the guys, asking them innocent and relevant questions about their favorite food, culinary process, and preferred ingredients. Please know: whatever double meanings arise from the interview are all due to your perverted little minds. We at Supreme were only interested in their cooking.

Hot Guys Who Cook premieres this Monday night, June 25, 9 p.m. on Diva Universal.

PETER DAVIS

How often do you cook?

Once a week if permitted, or even more, but life is a little crazy sometimes without a routine, so I just sample good food whereever I’am whenever I’m hungry!

How would you normally organize your kitchen before you cook?

Clear up any space that I think I need and then get on to sorting out the ingredients in to similar cooking times.... if you get what I mean!

TOM PRICE

When did you learn how to cook?

I learnt how to cook whilst studying at university because I simply could not afford to eat out every day. I was living with friends at the time in a shared apartment and I learnt a lot from them, including this dish.

One thing to have when

cooking?

Music. This just makes the process more bearable and enjoyable.

PAUL FOSTER

How would you rate your culinary abilities?

According to friends, I’m great! ( laughs). I’d say I’m

proficient in the kitchen with enough ability to satisfy. I’d give myself a solid 8 out of 10...

Can you give us a few fun

facts about yourself?

I have four piercings at present, I have represented Singapore at National Level Rugby, I have four sisters and

I am Singapore’s first and only

food bachelor...

UTT UTSADA

Is there anything you’ll

never cook?

I’ll never eat strange and exotic meats etc. First it is wrong that we’re slowly causing our wild life to becomeextinct and there are people who go out of their way to try exotic food and thrive on this unfortunate business.

If you were allowed to cook only one dish for the rest of your

life, which one would it be?

Fruits and vegetables. I like them. Fruit (Mangosteen) and vegetable (carrots). GEORGE YOUNG

How often do you cook?

Not very often at all. Singapore’s great for eating out.

Plus I have flatmates who are very enthusiastic and gifted cooks, so I always enlist myself into washing- up duty. The extent of my cooking nowadays is that I boil an egg every morning.

How would you normally organize your kitchen before you cook?

As long as I can find everything I need quickly and easily, I’ll be happy.

JASON GODFREY

Where will we go with you to get the ingredients for your dish?

I will go no further than my rooftop greenhouse where I grow my own organic vegetables.

No. I won’t. I lied. I’ll go to the supermarket and hope that the minced beef is nearly expired so I can get a discount.

How would you rate your culinary abilities?

Scale of 1-10, a solid 3. I once made curry out of the entire box of curry powder and ate half the pot before I wondered if perhaps the curry was too strong. DREWRIVERA

If your lips had a flavor,

what would it be?

My lips do have a flavor. Many have told me they taste like a pinot noir wine made in the most rare and secluded vineyards of France. I have also been told they taste like skin.

Would you let a girl

give you a “hand” in the

kitchen?

I honestly have no idea what that means, so, yes. I’m really not all that great at doing anything in the kitchen.

ERWAN HEUSSAFF

Favorite dish to cook and why?

I love to cook stews because they don’t take a lot of preparation. You just chop up a bunch of ingredients, herbs and spices and throw them into a big pan and forget about it for hours. I don’t wait for anything,

I flop it into a big bowl and lap it all

up with a piece of bread.

What’s the best dish to serve

to a girl?

It’d have to be dessert and probably chocolate. I make a pretty good molten chocolate cake which is really simple to do, that paired with a creamed dulce de leche and

some sea salt flakes is all it takes.

JOSIAH MIZUKAMI

Peanuts or eggplant?

Eggplant. Because I love Thai curry, eggplant parmesan, stuffed eggplant dim sum and many other dishes that would not be the same without it. There is so much more that you could do with an eggplant.

What is your favorite part to eat? Tongue, leg or breast?

Breast without a doubt.

NAT HO

What sauce/ syrup goes best with skin?

Honey. It mixes well with the light salty tang of skin.

Would you let a girl give you a “hand” in the kitchen?

That’s such a naughty question. What is your favorite part

to eat? Tongue, leg or breast?

Legs. I’m really a legs kinda guy.

Favorite dish to cook and

why?

Stew. Throw everything in and leave it to cook. Fuss-free and delicious!

VICTOR BASA

If your lips had a flavor,

what would it be?

Carmex cherry most definitely because I can’t get enough of the stuff.

Favorite dish to cook and

why?

My specialty restaurant replica truffle cream pasta and a well-executed rib eye. Nothing too fancy, but really hits the spot.

SHANE MARDJUKI

What’s a dish a girl can cook for you that’d blow your mind?

Lasagna. Coz lasagna is a gift from the gods, sent down from the heavens as a sign that there are bigger and better things out there.

A girl who can cook — would that impress you?

Oh, God yes. Especially one

who is so fiercely independent that she requires no help in the kitchen. Especially when it comes to the cleaning.

HENRY GOLDING

When and how did your passion for cooking start?

My love for food definitely drives me, not really so much to cook but to eat… I’m the guy who eats and really appreciates food. Food is

such a figurehead in cultures around the world, especially in Asia. KEAGAN KANG

Can you describe yourself as if you were a dish?

I am a circus of flavors that just bursts in your mouth. Spicy and tangy, sweet and sour, but I am a dish that you will always remember. I am

well cooked with full flavors. Hopefully you will come back for seconds. A la kang.

ALEX YOONG

When and how did your passion for cooking start?

I was really inspired by a friend of mine. She has been doing the raw food diet for many years now before it became fashionable. I was not a

big fan when she first started on this diet, but as the years went on and through trial and error, her food became really yummy.

BOBBY TONELLI

How did you learn to cook?

Trial and error. Living with friends during college you pick it up.

How would you sum yourself up in just five words?

Passionate, detailed, creative, random and tall.
