Jade Vine to hold ‘ballroom dancing’ competition

-

The newly renovated Jade Vine Restaurant and Executive Inn on UN Ave. in Ermita, which used to stage Broadway shows featuring female impersonators in the late ’60s, is bringing back the fun through a ballroom dancing competition tomorrow, June 28, at 7 p.m. to 12 midnight.

Organized by Vincent Briñas, the “Dare to Dance” event will feature competition among dance instructors. Tickets at P400 per person is inclusive of a set dinner menu. Call 5248601 to 05.

On its 52nd year on the first Sunday of September 2012, Jade Vine used to be the place to go for cocktails and music in the evenings with its Sultana & Cocktail Lounge that gathered Manila’s “crème de la crème”.

Those were the fun days, according to Bert Torrijos, who is the president and general manager. He also recalls how Sen. Edgardo Angara used to like Jade Vine’s original “kare-kare,” the recipe of which was created by Jade Vine owner, the late Esperanza Pajati Alvendia.

Jade Vine is famous for its catering and the old clientele still come back for its “comfort food.”
