Region 1 cops cited for bravery
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome conferred the Medalya ng Kagalingan on 16 members of Region 1 police last Tuesday.
Bartolome awarded the Medalya ng Kagalingan to the three police commissioned officers and 13 police non-commissioned officers in recognition of their bravery and exemplary conduct shown during an armed encounter with cattle rustlers in Sitio Sipit, Bacnar, San Carlos City, Pangasinan last April.
During the encounter, the operatives neutralized/ killed one of the suspects and recovered the stolen cattle, one caliber .38 revolver loaded with ammunitions, two spent shells and one MK2 fragmentation grenade. The awardees are Police Senior Inspector (PSIs) Resty Ventenilla, Joseph Mark Sibayan, Gerardo Macaraeg Jr., Senior Police Officer 1 Rodolfo Resuello Jr., Police Officer 2 Jeorge A. Abao III, and Police Offi cer 1s Christopher Jarillo, Benedicto Agustin II, Mark Argel De Guzman, Rolando Ventenilla, Welber Poquiz, Crispin Dela Cruz, Jayson Macasieb, Sander Claveria, Gilson Pagsolingan, Christian Jaybee Bugarin and Gilbert Palisoc.
Police Chief Superintendent Franklin Jesus Bucayu, Region 1 policed director, said the accomplishment of his men is a manifestation that PRO1 is equipped with able and capable police force who are willing to risk life and limb to ensure the safety of the community.
Bucayu also added that the policemen displayed great concern and dedication in sustaining the PRO1 fs legacy as gHome of the Citizen Friendly Policemen and Protectors of Human Rights. h
Bartolome also handed out plaques of recognition to Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos; Ma. Victoria Pineda, regional director of National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA); and Randy Dipasupil, barangay chairman of San Marcos, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte.
Marcos was cited for her role in the crafting and issuance of Provincial Executive Order 22-10 that paved the way for the creation of Ilocos Norte Provincial Anti-Partisan Armed Group (PAPAG).
Pineda was given recognition for her professionalism in the formulation of intelligence policies and directives in the campaign against insurgency and criminality in the region, while Dipasupil was cited for his support in the PNP fs peacekeeping and anticriminality initiatives.
Bartolome also presented plaques of appreciation to Rosendo Ong So, chairman of Abono party-list and Rev. Mariano Apilado, Union Christian Leaders Advocate-Peace builders, La Union.
So provided financial
assistance for the repair and refurbishment of 20 M16 and five M14 rifles, while Apilado supports the values formation initiatives of PRO1 for the attainment of a highly capable, effective and credible police force.
