IDP Consult joins Lahmeyer Group
IDP Consult, one of the premiere management consultancy firms based in the Philippines, has recently joined Lahmeyer International, a global consulting and engineering firm from Germany.
IDP Consult has accumulated proficiencies in the fields of water supply and sanitation, energy and infrastructure, environmental and urban development, as well as municipal finance and financial management, institutional capacity building and governance. The company has undertaken over 150 technical assistance projects in more than 30 countries for clients consisting of international donors such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank (WB) and other development institutions. In addition to its own staff the company works together with 10 local partners and generated a turnover of 1.6 million Euro in 2011.
Lahmeyer International offers a broad spectrum of planning and consulting services with emphasis on large and complex infrastructure projects in the energy, hydropower and water resources, and project management sectors. With its origins going back as far as 1890, the company has developed, since its founding in 1966, into one of the leading consulting and engineering firms operating internationally, with projects in 165 countries. Today the worldwide Lahmeyer Group of companies employs over 1400 team member from more than 30 disciplines.
With the acquisition of a majority interest in IDP Consult the Lahmeyer Group remains on a growth path and expands its competences in government consultation in the fields of water, energy and environment in the South-East Asian market. The share purchase agreement was signed on April 16 and closing of the transaction took place on April 30. After closing, Lahmeyer owns 70 percent of the company’s shares.
The integration of IDP Consult conveys the Lahmeyer Group’s international business growth strategy in which the latter intends to accelerate company-wide efforts of conferring its competencies and service solutions in energy, infrastructure and water across to developing parts of South, Central and Southeast Asia. Alternately, the effective synergy with Lahmeyer is expected to further elevate IDP’s – now Lahmeyer IDP Consult – increasing role or stature as change-agent and proponent in donor-funded programs amongst Asian regions.
IDP Consult will operate under the name Lahmeyer IDP Consult and will coordinate its services closely with Lahmeyer International. The president of the company Evelyn Orda will continue to manage the business.
On July 3, 2012, this new partnership will be formally launched in Ortigas Center, Pasig City. The event will convene together Lahmeyer and IDP directors, key consultants, as well as representatives from various sectors, business partners, and foreign agencies.
