Miraculous Lady of Piat fiesta mass slated

-

It is always with great filial devotion that pilgrims from all walks of life continue to travel to a northern hilltop town in Cagayan Valley throughout the year. Enshrined in the Basilica Minore in the town of Piat is the image of the Miraculous Virgin of our Lady of Piat, also known as “Nuestra Senora de Visitacion.” The Dominicans who evangelized the northern provinces brought her image to Cagayan in 1604 and to this day, her image stands serenely and majestically overlooking the Cagayan river.

She continues to be a faithful mother to all, helping especially the sick and the needy. Stories of old say she wiped the sweat from the farmers foreheads… which explains the handkerchief she holds in the image. In keeping with the more than 40-yearold tradition, the officers of the board of the “Devotees of Nuestra Senora de Piat Foundation, Inc.” wishes to invite all devotees and pilgrims to honor the miraculous Lady of Piat during it’s annual celebration in honor of her feast day.

The Eucharistic celebration shall take place on July 7, 2012, Saturday, at 9 a.m. at the Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon Avenue. We invite everyone to join us in thanksgiving at the fiesta mass which will be concelebrated by Most Rev. Sergio Utleg, DD, Archbishop of Tuguegarao and his Auxiliary Bishop, Most Rev. Ricardo Baccay, DD, joining them is Rev. Fr. Bong Cabrera.

The main role of the “Devotees of Nuestra Senora de Piat Foundation, Inc.” is to propagate the devotion to our Lady and due to the numerous miracles attributed to her intercession, this devotion continues to grow. We look forward to seeing everyone in the celebration of this gift of faith.

The usual get together brunch will take place immediately after the mass. The board members of the “Devotees of Nuestra Senora de Piat Foundation, Inc.” headed by Gen. and Mrs. Aglipay and Carmen Carag extend their invitation to everyone. Venue will be announced after the mass.
