Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto (in photo) stars in the newly unveiled multi-media campaign of The Generics Pharmacy (TGP).

The ‘Star for All Seasons’ was formally introduced as the newest celebrity endorser for the country’s largest drugstore chain alongside another TGP brand ambassador, reigning Ms. Universe-Philippines 2012 Janine Marie Tugonon, during a recent news conference held at the Makati Shangri-la.

The well-attended event also coincided with the official launch of TGP’s latest marketing campaign, which includes radio and print ads, billboards and a new TVC featuring the seasoned talent and timeless charm of Santos-Recto.

The integrated promotional drive seeks to spread awareness about the quality, safety and efficacy of generic medicines, and reinforce TGP’s status as the premier distributor of high-quality generics in the country.

As one of today’s most enduring, widely-respected and sought-after personalities, Santos-Recto was an easy choice, according to TGP president Benjamin Liuson.

“Although she is a celebrity, she has an endearing and down-to-earth quality that lets her connect with a lot of people, and that makes her very effective in politics too,” Liuson said, adding that the beloved actress-politician has a strong affinity for TGP’s corporate values.

“She wholeheartedly believes in what our company offers, which are high quality, safe and effective generic medicines at affordable prices to benefit the most number of Filipino families,” he continued.

Santos-Recto, for her part, said she was drawn by the sincerity of TGP’s commitment to provide Filipinos with more affordable healthcare through greater access to less pricey generic medicines. She likewise noted close resemblances between TGP’s advocacy and her pro-poor and pro-health agenda in her home province.
