Germany-based gallery donates painting to NCCA

-

In commemoration of the 10th death anniversary of Mabini artist Paco Gorospe, Klaus Hartung and his wife Jane, managing director of Transwing Kunst Gallery in Darmstadt, Germany and owner of the late artist’s oil painting “Mango Vendor,” will donate the said art work to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) on Friday, July 20 at Barbara’s Restaurant in Intramuros, Manila.

The donation will be given to NCCA head Felipe de Leon and Nemesio Miran- da Jr., who is on top of the agency’s visual arts committee.

Gorospe was a Mabini artist who developed his own style — from impressionism via primitivism to expressionism, cubism, abstract expressionism and futurism.

He was the only non-Fine Arts graduate to be exhibited at the Philippine Art Gallery, bulwark of progressive neo-realists. He represented the Philippines in exhibits abroad and has been commissioned to do art work for institutions and art collectors.

Transwing Kunst Gallery opened in Darmstadt, Germany in 2010, thus giving Filipino artists a venue to exhibit their works in Germany and in Europe.

Aside from exclusively showcasing Filipino artists to the German and European community, Transwing Kunst Gallery has an extensive library of Filipiniana books, including out-of-print publications on the Philippines. This library includes books on José Rizal, Philippine history and development of art in the Philippines.
