Celeteque: Safe, smart, science-based skincare

- By JOY ANGELICA SUBIDO

posedly fortifying facial treatments using red caviar and champagne, the raw meat wraps to clarify splotchy skin, the facial scrubs and masks of bird turd and animal sperm that supposedly make skin

- ally, skin treatments have a tendency to become extremely weird. But still, there is no end to the gullible and desperate takers who are willing to try these out. Indeed, there are people who will stop at nothing to look beautiful.

Believe me, I know. Until he was caught, my vain, clueless cousin regularly

We ’ve heard about sup -

patients from my mother’s clinic. He and his friends plastered these on their faces to get a blush on their cheeks that didn’t fade or wipe off. Never mind that the whole bunch of them suffered headaches all day long.

However, it is a good thing that we are conscious about taking better care of ourselves overall and protecting our skin from damage. Still, when it pertains to skin, things can become a bit tricky. With all the cleansing, moisturizing, exfoliating and protective merchandise available, choosing the right product can become confusing and a bit of a chore.

What would be a good guide in choosing skin products? “Not all skin products are created equal,” says Dr. Eric Schweiger. The top New York- based dermatologist was in Manila recently as the Dermo skincare ambassador of Celeteque Dermocience. “You want to look for products

ingredients and the expertise of dermatologists.” He elaborates, “The concept is about combining medical-grade products with products which are cosmetically elegant.” Needless to say, Celeteque prod-

- dicate individual components. These are not the mystery creams or lotions peddled by questionable “skin centers” that have dangerously sprouted like toadstools in our cities.

Why endorse the Celeteque brand, in particular? “I partnered with Celeteque DermoScience because I believe in the products. I tried them myself and was impressed,” says Dr. Schweiger. “Celeteque Dermo Science’s advantage is that it takes a scientific approach: using derma- grade ingredients, testing to

- ing with leading dermatologists who understand Filipino skin.”

Of course the credibility of the product is boosted by the fact that Unilab, one of the country’s most trusted health providers, is backing it. Celeteque DermoScience merged Unilab’s medical expertise and dermatological advances to develop products that are clinically tested to deliver results. At present there are six skincare lines co-developed with dermatologists for different skin conditions: Hydration, Acne Solutions, Sun Care, Brightening, Advanced AntiAging and Restorative. With these products, “there are no empty promises, no

that are based on lab tests, clinical facts and studies.”

Certainly, the concept of skincare has changed. “In the past skincare was more associated with a cosmetic, a makeup effect,” says Dr. Schweiger. “Now our patients want products that work. They prefer to use products that result in long-

preventive so that the earlier you start, the better the results.”

The advantages of healthy skin transcend physical attractiveness. Dr. Schweiger concludes, “What I found in my practice is that when people look beautiful on the outside, they feel really good on the inside.”
