Youth will go hungry again at 12-Hour Famine

-

Everyday more than 24,000 children die for reasons of poverty, diseases, hunger and deaths that are absolutely preventable! That makes one child for every 3 seconds. The Famine campaign of World Vision is a worldwide movement of youth who are passionate about fighting hunger. They call themselves “hunger fighters”.

They come together to learn about hunger, raise funds to help hungry children as a result of poverty and being one with them by experiencing hunger for themselves. In the Philippines, the annual 12-hour Famine event is one of the biggest youth gatherings to stand up and fight against hunger through advocacy, poverty awareness and funfilled learning activities and fundraising initiatives while having a blast and experiencing hunger first hand by fasting for 12 hours straight.

Now, World Vision again invites everyone especially the youth to participate in the annual 12- hour famine that will be held on Sept. 29, at the SM North Edsa Skydome from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Famine campaign tagline for this year is “Your Hunger Can Feed a Child” with a collegiate theme where different universities and colleges will unite and make a stand to “fight against hunger”.

Registration fee will be P350 and participants may register through World Vision booths during school and church events, World Vision Mall booths or at World Vision National Office located along Quezon Avenue. Participants may also register online at www. worldvision. org. ph with additional delivery charge for the Famine Kit.

The Famine Kit includes the Famine 2012 T-shirt (for the first 1,000 registrants only), Participant’s CD Kit (info on the event and campaign guide with fundraising tools), Bracelet band, Event Pass and ID, 12-hour famine coin bank to be returned during event and claim stubs for t- shirts, loot bags (12-hour finishers) and breaking of fast meals.

World Vision supporters, celebrity advocates, ambassadors, sponsors and other surprise guests will be gracing the event to encourage, educate, inspire and entertain our hunger-fighters as they do the 12-hour Famine fast. It’ll be a fun-filled and inspiring-filled and heart-filled Saturday for the Filipino youth.
