Phl holds biggest photo event in Southeast Asia
Photoworld Asia 2013, the biggest photography event of the year in Southeast Asia, opens on Jan. 31 at the Glorietta, Ayala Center, while the international photographers’ convention is at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati. Organizer is the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation, Inc. (FPPFI).
A major component of the six-day event tis a trade exhibition in Glorietta to be participated by Canon, Sony, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Panasonic and other photographic gear suppliers - which will be offering huge discounts on their products.
Cris Cleofas, Alpha Camera Club’s immediate past president, is the chairperson of Photoworld Asia 2013. The slogan of this year’s event is “Limitless Possibilities.”
The international photographers’ convention will be very exciting with the participation of world renowned US professional photographer Joe McNally and Drew Gurian, his able assistant.
Eduviges Huang, FPPFI chairperson, is inviting amateur and professional photographers, not to miss the once a year convention where they can hear the lecturers of expert American and Filipino photographers. She says attending the convention is an investment for photographers who will have the chance to learn the expertise and hear the experiences of the lecturers.
Other speakers are professional photographers Allan Razo and G- Nie Arambulo who will share their techniques on commercial photography, Edwin Bacasmas and Revoli Cortez, who will share their experience as photojournalists, Dan Pamintuan to talk about DSLR videography and video editing, and Prof. Cecilia Manican of the Asian Institute of Management who will share her thoughts on creative thinking, Nap Jamir will share his photographic accomplishments and as a cinematographer, Jay Tablante his personal techniques in cosplay or fashion coverage, Nick Tuazon will demonstrate how to capture his subjects at the right moment, Arnel Murillo will talk on travel photography, fine art photography and abstract photography, Dan Pamintuan on moving photography and videography and Edwin Loyola who will show his creativity in photography. Photographers from the provinces are encouraged to register early for the convention to take advantage of the early- bird rates and to be able to book early for their flights to Manila.
