Ford Ranger WILDTRAK

-

It’s big. It’s brutish. And it’s wild—both in name and in the rugged stuff it can do. It’s called the Ranger Wildtrak, and it’s Ford’s newest plaything for those who live the fun and active lifestyle.

Ford’s new Ranger Wildtrak comes in three flavors: Duratorq TDCi 2.2L VG Turbo 4x4 manual (P1.3 million) and automatic ( P1.4 million) and automatic ( P1.4 million), and the flagship Duratorq TDCi 3.2L VG Turbo 4x4 automatic (P1.5 million). These new Rangers will be available in three colors: Black Mica, Cool White and Wildtrak-exclusive Chili Orange. The Wildtrak is the sixth Ranger variant in the current range.

“We’re thrilled to be further expanding the line- up of our allnew Ranger with the introduction of the range-topping Wildtrak, and providing even more choices for this class- defining pickup truck in the Philippines,” said Ford Philippines president Randy Krieger. “The Ranger Wildtrak is truly a truck with no compromise— delivering classleading power and safety, excellent fuel efficiency, smart technologies, and unmatched versatility and capability.”

All Wildtraks feature a sport package with roof rail, sport bar, box rail, bedliner, and special Wildtrak seats, steering wheel, and door trim. It also features Wildtrak badging and graphics and comes with dual-zone climate control, power front windows with one-touch up/down on the driver’s side, rainsensing wipers, dome interior lamp, auto headlamps, side steps, cruise control, and audio controls for the steering wheel. The 3.2L variant adds a rear-view camera, cooled console, Ford’s Beltminder, a 12V cargo box power point, and an eight-way poweradjustable driver’s seat.

The Ranger Wildtrak comes with either of two common- rail directinjection ( CRDi) Duratorq TDCi diesel engines mated to manual or automatic transmissions—both with class- leading six speeds. The 3.2L Wildtrak 4x4 has 470Nm of torque and a maximum power of 197hp. The Duratorq TDCi 2.2L VG Turbo, meanwhile, delivers 375Nm and 148hp.

Here’s what the Wheels crew has to say:

Don’t let the frills and myriad of creature comforts fool you. As I discovered for myself, Ford Ranger’s marquee nameplate is, primarily, a capable beast of a ride with verve and nerve to run over any terrain you set its wheels to.

- Kap Maceda Aguila

The clamors for a Ford Ranger four-wheel drive variant has been answered by the all-new Wildtrak. From top down, it’s a winner from a robust platform to its aggressive stance to its 200-horsepower 3.2-liter engine. It transcends what you’ve always thought of in a pickup and successfully marries goanywhere, do-anything abilities with the luxurious of an upscale SUV.

I bought one. Enough said.

The Wildtrak may cost a pretty penny, but it comes loaded to the gunwales with features and amenities—not to mention a monster engine with 6-speed trannies—that set it apart from the truck pack. That it looks ruggedly handsome is just the icing on the cake.

- Manny N. de los Reyes

The range-topping Wildtrack is truly a formidable vehicle that offers a fiesta of smart technologies that make it easier, safer and ultimately, more fun to drive. With the latest in in-car comforts and impressive fuel economy, it’s an easy choice for the tough individual.
