3 San Juan cops fired

- By NON ALQUITRAN

Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Superintendent Miguel Laurel relieved from their posts yesterday three San Juan City policemen for allegedly robbing three siblings of cash and sexually harassing one of them during a raid on their house.

SPO1 Pablo Selloriquez, and PO3s Jayvin Pangilinan and Erich Joel Temporal of the Station Anti-illegal Drugs and Special Operations Task Group were ordered disarmed and temporarily assigned at the EPD holding center to prevent them from harassing the complainants.

Laurel vowed to institute summary dismissal proceedings against the trio should evidence warrants.

“They have no place in the police service. Scalawags like them should be dismissed so others would not emulate them,” he said.

Twins Marco and Marty Reyes, both 18, and their elder sister, Michaela Joy, 22, are set to file charges of robbery, planting of evidence, violation of domicile and acts of lasciviousness against the three policemen.

Selloriquez, Temporal and Pangilinan claimed their operation against the Reyeses was legitimate.

In a spot report, the police officers said they arrested by chance Michaela Joy last May 31 for alleged possession of a sachet of shabu. The evidence was brought to the crime laboratory of the Philippine National Police (PNP) for examination.

Michaela Joy is presently detained at the San Juan police station.

However, the Reyes twins claimed they were alerted by shouts of “robbers, robbers” and their sister ordered them to shut the door of their house.

But before they could close the door, two of the suspects barged inside and searched the house without showing any search warrant.

The policemen allegedly took P13,600 cash of the twins and the cellular phone of their sister.

The twins said Selloriquez touched the private parts of their sister, who was in her “nighties.”

The complainants said the three policemen planted the illegal drugs seized from Michaela Joy.

Senior Inspector Oscar Mansibang, head of the EPD criminal investigation unit, said the pre-operation report on the raid showed inconsistencies.

He said the police report had no control number and received copy. The time it was recorded was also altered.

In his report to Laurel, Mansibang said he doubted the veracity of the report.
