P.2-M reward up for arrest of village chief’s killers
Pasay City Mayor Antonino Calixto yesterday offered a P200,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the suspects in the killing of a barangay official in the city last June 1.
Ronnie Laylo, chairman of Barangay 153, Zone 16, was tending to his store along Francisco street when one of the suspects disembarked from a motorcycle and opened fire at him at around 11:30 a.m.
“We appeal to the public for any information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects,” Calixto said.
The mayor said his office will exhaust all means to ensure that Laylo’s killers are brought to justice.
“I condole with the family of the victim, and I assure the people of Pasay that we will give this case highest priority,” he said.
“We are giving a cash reward to encourage possible witnesses to come out,” he added.
Calixto said the identities of the informants will treated with confidentiality.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Llorca said that Laylo succumbed to gunshot wounds in the chest and right arm.
The barangay official died while being treated at the San Juan de Dios Hospital.
Police investigators have yet to establish the motive behind the killing of Laylo.
Llorca said he will form a special task force to investigate the murder.
He said any information on the killing of Laylo can be reported to the Pasay police hotline numbers 02-831-7322.
