Century Tuna 5150 Triathlon Phl slated

The Century Tuna 5150 Triathlon Series fires off June 23 with a big internatio­nal field expected to clash for top honors in the event which features a challengin­g course that includes a 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run in Subic Bay.

Two-time Ironman world champion Chris McCormack, Luke McKenzie, Ben Allen, Jacqui Slack and Belinda Granger are expected to lead the over 900-man field in the second staging of the event dubbed as the world’s largest Olympic distance triathlon series.

The elite field represents 23 countries, including top contenders such as United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, the US, Singapore, France, Germany, Taiwan, Japan and the Philippine­s.

Heading the local challenge in the event, sponsored by Century Tuna, the country’s leading and most trusted tuna brand, are defending champions John Leerams Chicano and Monica Torres, Kim Mangrobang, and national triathlon record holder, Olympic hopeful and Century Tuna Tri Hard member Nikko Huelgas.
